In this modern age of video games, it’s not just the physical sales that people are tracking, for the digital sales market is growing every year. This goes especially when you consider the growing number of indie games across all platforms. Sony had a good 2017 between the PS4 and the PS VR…oh and the Vita, that still exists too. But, with some many high-profile titles, you might be surprised on what was the best digital selling games on their platforms. So, they went to the PlayStation Blog to highlight the best sales of the PlayStation Store.
Let’s start off with the PS4, shall we? The top two slots aren’t surprising, as it’s Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2, which were in fact the best selling games of 2017, of all games on the market. No.3 though is a surprise in Friday The 13th The Game. Given its troubled launch that’s very surprising. Following that was Horizon: Zero Dawn, Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K18, Rocket League, Minecraft, Madden NFL 18, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. So a very diverse lineup of top digital titles.
The PS VR had just as diverse a lineup, and give that over 1.5 million people have the device, these numbers really do mean something.
Topping their charts was Job Simulator, which isn’t as boring as you might thing. After that was the popular game Superhot VR, which is quite the unique FPS. After that was PlayStation Worlds, I Expect You To Die, Batman: Arkham VR, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR (which only released in November), Fruit Ninja VR (because why not?), Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, Until Dawn, and Drive Club.
Yeah, like we said, a diverse lineup of games. Now, to be clear, this isn’t about revenue standings, it’s about most downloaded titles from the PlayStation Store.
