Square Enix has announced that they will not be pursuing a Final Fantasy XV DLC episode surrounding the game’s villain Ardyn Izunia, with the development team looking to take a different approach in telling the next step in his background.
At a Final Fantasy event in Cologne, Germany, we heard from the game’s director Hajime Tabata, who has been trying to figure out how to get Ardyn’s story across, though he confirmed it won’t be a part of DLC. Tabata stated: We’re not sure as of yet how we’ll do it though–it’s a lot of story, and telling a character’s story is always the most difficult and detailed part of a game. So we don’t know yet whether we’ll make it another game, no DLC though, it would be a full game, or a movie, comic, etc. We really want to tell his story though.”
In a survey conducted by Square Enix, Ardyn was voted as the character that fans would like to see more story content for, closely followed by Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, who Tabata has “incredible motivation” to bring more content surrounding Luna.
It is an exciting time for Final Fantasy XV, with a plethora of new additions based around the game coming, including a PC port of the game.
