When you’re dealing with games that have massive universes, and by extension, hundreds, if not thousands, of years of history that took you to the point where you are now in the game, you can’t help but wonder some of the things that led up to where humanity (or whatever race you play as) is today in-game. For Star Citizen, a game with a massive universe, they do just that with news posts that talk about interesting stories from their universe.
These posts are called “Discovered”, and often focus on explores who dared to go into the depths of space to try and find things that would change the course of human history. However, in the latest one, they did a story about someone who found something a little closer to home.
The story focuses on Kamelia Ganesh, an ordinary woman who was asked to do a scanning sweep of a mining claim in outer space, very standard stuff. Her job was in fact to that mineral deposits for companies. However, she soon found something she didn’t expect, an emergency beacon.
Naturally, she tried to figure out where it came from, when it came from, and who it belonged to. After many ups and downs, she figured out that the emergency beacon she had found was part of a very, VERY, old ship that had belonged to Earth hundreds of years ago. It was called the Goodman, and had gotten “lost” a long time ago on a very standard mission. It was one of Earth’s greatest mysteries, and yet, Ganesh not only was able to confirm that it belonged to the Goodman, through some tracking and digging, she actually found it.
It was hovering in the blackness of space, and now, it’s in a museum for all to see. Not all stories are grand tales of adventure. Some are just stumbling upon something interesting, which leads to something more interesting, and so on and so forth. Who knows what you might fight in the world of Star Citizen, guess you won’t know until you go out and find it yourself.
