Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced that Star Trek Online is now available on Xbox One and PS4. The free-to-play MMORPG based on the iconic sci-fi franchise takes inspiration from the TV series and films, giving players the authentic experience of commanding their very own Starship.
In preparation for the jump to consoles, several upgrades have been added for the game’s launch. A new condensed control scheme places a full-scale 92-key keyboard into a 16-button controller, whilst retaining the speed of the PC version. Lighting and graphics have also been updated to improve the overall visual quality of the game by incorporating modern lighting technologies. Star Trek Online’s console UI has been improved to give easy access to skills, inventory and more at a glance.
The console version will come with both Legacy of Romulus and Delta Rising expansions, along with several updates. Players will choose from their favourite Star Trek factions, such as Klingon, Federation and Romulans to customize their own captain. From there, trekkies will be able to use their starship to fly to iconic Star Trek locations, where you’ll interact with originally voiced Star Trek characters such as Tuvok (Tim Russ), Worf (Michael Dorn) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan).
Star Trek Online is available for free digitally on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
