Sadly, there are always side-effects and costs to everything. Even when one is trying to do good, it can leave people angry, and that goes triple for video games. Star Wars: The Old Republic has been around for several years, however, the player base isn’t as big as it once was. So, for a while, players asked for the servers to be merged, allowing for a more refined yet populated experience in the game. So, Bioware did so, but there was a cost to doing this, and some players are feeling it.
You see, the game went from a large number of servers, spanning across the globe, to five. Just five for the whole world. So, when you think about it, if all of these players were separated before, and yet they’re all together now, there’s bound to be some crossover, right? And that’s exactly it, some players…had to lose their names.
Of course, by “names” we mean the player/usernames that they have in-game, for with so many players there’s no doubt that some have had the same name, but on different servers. Bioware stated that the names would go to the players that either have been around the longest, are a paid member of the Star Wars: The Old Republic community, and other factors. On Reddit, some players are talking about the names they lost and kept.
For some, they were made that they lost any name they had. One player (for some reason…) had 77 characters in the game, and lost three of their names, and is really mad about it. Ok…
Others were overjoyed when they either lost no names, or only lost ones that they didn’t care about. No harm no foul, right?
Did you lose your character names? If so, what were they called? Let us know in the comments below.
