Stardew Valley is a video game that has charmed millions of players across multiple platforms. Heck, when it released recently on the Nintendo Switch, it became one of the most played games on the platform. The game is simple in its premise, and yet profound on how it allows you to evolve your character. And not surprisingly, the game continues to grow and evolve. But, what might surprise players is a new feature that the creator of the game is teasing.
What feature is that you ask? Well, the game has a deep singleplayer experience, lots of options on what to do, but…it doesn’t have…multiplayer. Yet.
4-player Stardew Valley LAN party at my house… it’s really fun. It still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid. Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun. Can’t wait to share this pic.twitter.com/Sjxyd712BK

Yeah, that seems like a pretty big indication that Stardew Valley is going to get multiplayer soon enough. Now, when exactly it’ll come is anyone’s guess, but, any kind of multiplayer would no doubt make the game boom once again. Think about it, instead of you just doing all the work, you can team up with other players, or just your friends, and farm the land, go on adventures, whatever you need to do in order to get the job done, but in half the time! Or a quarter, depending on how many friends you have.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what can be done with such a mechanics. It’ll be fascinating to see how it’s implemented and what all people can do with it. Let’s hope the multiplayer functionality comes sooner rather than later.
