When the original Street Fighter V arrived on PS4 and PC, critics and players alike noted that the game was very refined and detailed in regards to its fighting system (including new mechanics like the V-Trigger), but also depressingly light in terms of the modes and characters that it had at the start of it all. So, thus, despite promising not to do it this time, there will be an “enhanced” version of the game via Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
This version will bring all the DLC characters into the game title for players to access, and will have numerous new modes that will keep you playing for some time. In fact, Capcom went into heavy detail about a specific one that will surely intrigue players, Team Versus mode. This isn’t a simple team-up battle though, oh no, this is a 5v5 war that can take many different shapes and forms.
So, how will it work? Well, to start, you’ll determine who’s playing in the 5v5 mode. You can play with up to 5 human players on your team, or you can assign CPU players should you want. Once you get that done, you’ll determine what kinds of battles you want to have. You can do Elimination bouts, where characters will continue to battle until all members of one team are done. Or, you can do “Best Of Series”, where you’ll be paired up with an opponent, and the team that takes 3 victories wins.
There’s a lot of customization as well in Team Versus Mode. You can choose how much vitality all the characters have, the match time, switching characters after a defeat, there’s a lot of nuance in this mode. Be sure to check out the full breakdown via the Capcom-Unity site so you know exactly what’s coming when Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition arrives January 16th.
