The dawn of the Virtual Reality gaming world appears to be upon us. Many developers in the video game industry, both AAA and indie are taking to this new realm of technology and trying to put their own spin on it. Now, developer RealityRig has released their own VR title, one that puts you against an army of machines in an FPS setting. This is The Path Of Greatest Resistance.
In the game, mankind has basically been wiped off the Earth. However, some did escape into space, and live on the outskirts of our galaxy in order to survive. But, you have to fight back now, and the machines are everywhere.
This game was custom built for VR, and because of that, it has three unique modes that are fully focused on certain types of movement. For example, you have a standard rail shooter mode like old school arcade games. There’s a “jog-to-move” mode, where you literally have to jog in order to move your character. And finally, a “treadmill mode”, where the person can do this game on a treadmill.
Aside from the standard campaign, there’s an Endless Mode, where you can put yourself against the Machine Alliance and see how long you last. Another unique part of The Path Of Greatest Resistance is that while some missions are guided, there are elements that are procedurally generated. Also, missions differ depending on what weapons you are given. Because this is a sci-fi title, you can get guns, shields, plasma crossbows, a “TimeSaber”, a sword with a force field, and much more.
But, the team knows that VR games can be tough, so there is a way to lower difficulty should you fail many times. And, if you are so inclined, there is even a “Cheating Options” menu you can go into. The Path of Greatest resistance does require VR, and you can check their Steam Page for more information on that. The game is available now for $2.99
