Kickstarter is an amazing place to help projects get funded, and that holds especially true for video game titles. As the service allows developers to truly craft the game of their dreams, take for example PlayWay, who have just launched the Kickstarter for their top-down roguelike called Soulblight. This title has elements of RPGs, Hack-N-Slash titles, and of course, loads of action, but even that just scratches the surface of what’s in the game. Allow us to tell you more.
The story begins with two forces, Life, and Death, and since their arrival, they have been fighting for control ever since. To that end, the World Tree was made to show that one could not live without the other. To further expand upon this, mankind was created. Mankind worshipped the Soul Tree (which truly gave birth to the race) and built a sanctuary around it to honor and protect it. But, as time went on, the human race began to forget about their connection to the tree, and it withered. Through that, evil arose. Now, you must find the Soul Tree, and purify it from the corruption it’s under.
It won’t be easy though, as the world has gotten much darker, and there are monsters within the sanctuary that you must defeat in order to complete your mission. But before you can do even that, you have to decide what kind of person you are.
You see, Soulblight takes a “more literal approach” to RPG-ing. You have to choose a character type that you’ll literally have to act like as you proceed through the game. The more you do, the more you’ll grow, and the more power you’ll get as well.
Soulblight has six main areas that you’ll go through randomly, and you’ll need to use tactics as much as power if you want to survive. If this sounds like your kind of adventure, go and support it on Kickstarter.
