Metroid fans fret not, for the drought is now over. Two new games were announced today during Nintendo’s E3 Spotlight and Treehouse Live Events. During the Spotlight, it was revealed that Metroid Prime 4 is now in development. This is perhaps among the most eagerly anticipated titles in recent years.
Fans of the series should also know that for the Nintendo 3DS a new title called Metroid: Samus Returns will be available. This game will return to the 2D roots of the franchise, allowing the titular power suit holding heroine to traverse desolate alien planets and engage in combat with varying weapons and a few melee type moves (that I’d like to believe she picked up during her tenure in Smash) in order to create an experience most similar to Super Metroid.
As for Metroid Prime 4, not much information was given other than the fact that the title is in development.
There will also be two Amiibo released alongside Samus Returns when it launches this year. These figurines will feature the great space warrior Samus herself, as well as a Metroid.
Stay posted here for more news and updates as they become available through Nintendo’s Treehouse Live events which will be taking place for the next three days. Interested players will get access to exclusive live announcements as well as a look at some of the upcoming titles on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. As always, we’ll be diligently reporting on those key announcements right here, so keep it with us for all of your E3 2017 news.
