The topic of Loot Boxes is one that has been getting a lot of attention recently. In fact, it’s even reached some of the highest levels of government, as many there believe that Loot Boxes are wrong, and that they’re robbing people of money, mainly children and young teens. So whenever Loot Boxes get brought up, or added to a game that didn’t have them before, people tend to react badly. Such is the case with Rainbow Six Siege.
The popular game from Ubisoft has reached a lot of milestones, but they’re about to include Loot Boxes in Rainbow Six Siege in a limited run capacity for their upcoming March Outbreak event. Upon hearing this, fans made their feelings known, and they were all unhappy. But, according to brand director Alexandre Remy, players have nothing to worry about:
“I feel like the loot boxes act like the gift shop after the rollercoaster,” Remy said to MCV, “I am feeling very empathetic towards players upset with this, but at the same time I do not feel we are cheating anyone, i don’t think we are being greedy whatsoever.”
It should be noted that these Loot Boxes only contain cosmetic items, and these items will not affect gameplay in any way, which is something many other video games and developers can’t say. Yes, it’s still a little odd, but it’s way above board compared to what games like Star Wars Battlefront II and others do. Ubisoft has always been upfront with players in matters like this, and they have a good system going with their “Year” content, so they know what works and what they shouldn’t do to rock the boat.
So yeah, this is one group of Loot Boxes that you won’t have to fear, and again, they’re only there for a limited time, you can get them from March 6th to April 3rd
