Are you a fan of Norse mythology? Are you a fan of Vikings, the TV show? Are you a veteran of strategy games? If you are, then Northgard is something you should look forward to.
French independent studio Shiro Games (the one behind the Evoland series) released the Early Access version of their newest project, a video game called Northgard. The game’s mixture is truly amazing, as it looks like a strategy game in the likes of Civilization 6, except with Norse mythology. You would be quite impressed by how the game actually looks like, so we put the early access launch trailer down below!
If you want to see more of Northgard, you can catch some gameplay at Pax East. Shiro Games CEO, Nicolas Cannasse, joined by Sebastien Vidal, will be present for things such as interview opportunities and even a preview of never before seen content like the Raven Clan.
We’ve seen plenty of games that use Norse mythology as a theme and also use is as inspiration to build their worlds. Norse mythology has a lot of material to cover since we have a lot of diverse characters, stories, and events that can be used in games to create some truly interesting and intense situations that are really immersive–and most importantly, really fun.
The graphics are on point and really pleasing to the eye. The colors are vibrant and calming, with the interface being slick and clean. The environments and the character models all have very interesting designs, and the gameplay seems to be simple, yet entertaining.
From the looks of it, Northgard will be a fine addition to the RTS genre with its slick visuals and the use of Norse mythology. With forgiving system requirements, Northgard is available on Steam Early Access for 10% its original price until March 1st.
