Kickstarter is a place where new ideas can be born. To that end, many indie game developers go to the platform to try and either create new games or make sequels of ones they’ve made before. In the case of developer Frontwing, they decided to try and launch their new Visual Novel series, Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, on the service. To their credit, they managed to fund half their goal in less than a day of the project being up on Kickstarter.
Ironically, Frontwing has already prepared for Grisaia: Phantom Trigger’s release in Japan, but this Kickstarter is meant to help ensure the English localization of the game goes just as smoothly on top of building up the fanbase for it. Phantom Trigger is the follow-up to their Grisaia series, which was both well sold and well received by fans and critics alike.
This Kickstarter will help launch the first two volumes of the game, which will release on Steam in both the US and Japan on April 28. Additionally, if enough money is raised, the team wants to make it so all items associated with the game will be available around the world, and not just in Japan. These include the Manga that is being made for the game.
In Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, you play as a brand new set of students in the Mihama Academy, something fans of the series will know all about. You take control of four girls as they’re plunged into dangerous mission after dangerous mission, all for “the good of the realm.”
The goal for the Kickstarter is $80,000, and they’ve already gotten over halfway there with 29 days left to go. So if you’re looking for a new Visual novel experience, this may be one you want to check out.
