The VR boom is upon us. With Oculus, Steam VR, PSVR, and potentially more on the way, more and more games are vying to be used in virtual reality. Now, a new one has hit Steam Early Access from Glitchr Studio. It’s called Sky Sanctuary, and it wants you to be a Samurai. Well, one that’s in an archipelago above the clouds. But still, a samurai.
In Sky Sanctuary, you’ll start your journey with training from Delios-Sensei. Through his teachings, you’ll learn not only how to wield a katana (a samurai’s weapon), but also how to use the bow and arrow, throwing stars, and even the secrets of Zen. The best part? Even though you’re trying to be a samurai, there are a wealth of islands that you can explore in the archipelago without fear of being attacked. And since this is a VR game, the experience will be even more personal and beautiful.
But yes, there’s plenty of action too. As you’ll have plenty of opportunities to test your skills via Arcade Style gameplay. There’s high scores to get, leaderboards to climb, and glory to be earned…if you can earn it.
The VR itself for the game is tuned to the HTC Vive, which will let you move your body around in order to get the full experience of using your weapons and skills. Also, there are four main islands to start your experience, but the team notes that there will be more on the way. With each one offering new activities to do. So start now, and see what awaits you in the future.
So, are you ready to be a samurai? If so, and if you have the Vive, check out Sky Sanctuary on Steam. You might just enjoy yourself.
