The development team behind Warframe, Digital Extremes, has revealed that they will be canning its latest shooter project The Amazing Eternals.
This game was teased first earlier this year in May, before being officially announced in August, in what would have been a mash-up of a hero shooter and a collectible card game. This would see players collecting and playing cards which would change their abilities during a match.
However, Digital Extremes are binning the project, at least for now, according to a post on their official forums:
“Unfortunately, the game wasn’t attracting players fast enough to support a viable matchmaking player base with the current game design direction, which is the lifeblood of this type of game. So, with heavy hearts, we’re taking a step back to reevaluate the design and may revisit our intrepid heroes in the future.”
This decision was based on how the game was performing in the closed beta, as well as taking a look at the “current gaming landscape.” The Amazing Eternals did look to be a project that had potential, but doesn’t seem to be on the cards for thee time being, pardon the pun.
Refunds are currently being processed for those who purchased early access via the Founders program, and the team behind the game will now switch sole focus onto Warframe.
Meanwhile, Warframe continues to go from strength to strength it its rising popularity, and has recently released its biggest update so far, so Digital Extremes will certainly be keeping busy. No one has been laid off with the ceasing of The Amazing Eternals project, which was also stressed in the recent forum post.
