Microsoft has revealed the four new games that will be coming to Xbox Games with Gold in time for the holidays, with the December line-up including Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition, Child of Eden and Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death.
Perhaps the highlight inclusion is the four player co-op FPS from the Warhammer universe. Releasing back in 2015 on Xbox One, the game has now been upgraded with 4K capabilities, thanks to the recent release of the Xbox One X, and will be completely free for Xbox Live Gold members throughout the duration of December.
Producer Robert Bäckström recently commented on the game’s upgrade with the Xbox One X:
“The Xbox One X Enhanced version is available now in the Xbox One store. It has native 4K render support, improved anti-aliasing and shadow casting, more detailed textures, and a sharper image for an improved visual look. The stronger CPU power allows us to run the game in a more consistent framerate for a smoother game experience.”
Bäckström also revealed that due to resources being used up for the sequel, there was a late decision made to omit HDR support from the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X version of Vermintide, though this is something they hope to rectify in the upcoming sequel. Vermintide 2 is due out at the start of next year, so be sure to check out the first game for free this month in preparation for its release in Q1 2018.
