Webzen is one of the leading MMORPG developers of the industry, and the Korean giant will be working on plenty of titles in 2017.
Utilizing IPs is a major aspect of the MMORPG industry, and Korean developers such as Webzen and NCSoft seem to be aware of this. We have reported earlier that NCSoft might just be working on Aion’s long awaited sequel, A2, and Webzen also has some tricks up its sleeve. Two major titles are set to be released in the first half of 2017, MU Legend and Azera: Iron Heart. The MU IP is one that needs no introduction, and MU Legend is meant to carry on its legacy.
Azera: Iron Heart is also a promising mobile MMORPG that the developer has been working hard on. The game brings interesting classes and an exciting combat system that is bound to be successful. Before we move on, let’s check out the teaser for the game, that was revealed last year.
Webzen has been providing gamers with MMORPG titles since 2000, with big ones such as Archlord, Archlord 2, C9 and the MU games. Sadly, they also published some failing games such as ASTA, ELOA and Sevencore. Hopefully, 2017’s new lineup for Webzen will achieve the desired success.
Webzen has managed to conquer various regions with its releases, including Korea, China and the western regions. It has also been hinted that a mobile game is in the works for a previous title, S.U.N.. This does not come as much of a surprise, since so many Korean game developers are attempting to extend their IPs’ reach to the mobile game industry.
This might be a big year for Webzen, and they have plenty of titles arriving soon that will keep their fan base busy. Let’s hope that these games will survive the heavy competition.
