Much to the delight of PC owners, Destiny 2 has been made available to them, bringing the first Destiny experience to the platform. However, there have been several players who have been hit with bans by Bungie, seemingly for using third-party programs and Discord overlays that are of a pretty common nature.
The use of performance-enhancing software should be to be expected from PC users, as it’s one of the advantages of having that platform in the first place. Yet those who are using game capture programs seem to be being hit by bans anyway. Bungie stated earlier this year that they wanted players to avoid using such software as it might not be compatible with the game, and may result in performance issues.
Community rep Cozmo took to the forums amidst the complaints about being banned, reassuring fans that although it may cause performance issues, Bungie won’t be banning users for using them:
“Third-party applications that aren’t compatible with Destiny 2 may cause the game to not run but won’t result in a ban.”
With this revelation, it means that there is no real explanation as to why these bans are being handed out. This leaves players who have been banned pretty much stuck for the time being until Bungie comes up with a solution. At least it eliminates the suspicions over the use of game capture software.
