One of the most divisive games out right now is Destiny 2. And it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. The sequel to the very successful sci-fi game from Bungie had a lot of hype going into it. And yet, when players got a hold of the game all they had were questions. Why was it so different than the original Destiny? Where’s all the endgame content? Why is the Loot system so terrible? And on and on it went. Yet, despite all this, Bungie hasn’t addressed many of these concerns.
What’s more, Redditor Blue_13 and others are starting to notice this. For you see, Bungie does weekly updates for the game, and even does livestreams to talk about upcoming things for Destiny 2. Yet, they don’t mention much about the fans or their desires for the game, and that should change in his mind:
“But I know you guys look at this forum and lately it’s been the same argument popping up on the front page and I agree with most all of it.”
He is right, there have been a lot of Destiny 2 discussions that have gotten upvoted so much by the Reddit community that they’ve reached the Front Page, which is no small feat. So maybe Bungie should take notice, and maybe they should address what the fans are saying, after all, shouldn’t the playerbase be kept in the loop?
The other members of Reddit seem to think so, as they too aren’t happy with the amount of transparency between them and Bungie. Some honestly think they’re either hiding something, or are ignoring the fanbase.
Others think that Bungie will make changes, but not the ones the fans are asking for, which of course will only amplify the problems going on. It’s very unclear what will be the fate of this game, but it does lie in the hands of Bungie.

Back during Destiny 1, I quit right before the Taken King Dropped. Because it wasn’t hard to see that despite everyone loving the social aspect of the game and experiencing it for the first few days it took to play through the content, you were stuck on a hamster wheel grinding the same exact content over and over again.
Only to be able to play the same exact content over and over again: with better weapons. Weapons that everyone else also had. It occurred to me that Activision and Bungie were unapologetically giving as little as possible for the cash people were paying and that when the community protested, their response (after months of totally ignoring relentless forum posts from extremely furious people who paid their hard earned money) was basically too bad, screw you, we already made our money on you and if you don’t like it, don’t play.
That’s when I cut them off. I logged onto the forums just today for the first time since I quit during Destiny 1. And to no surprise, I found the forums rife with posts by an extremely displeased community; almost as if nothing at all had changed since I’d gone. I long knew quitting Destiny was the right choice. But what a nail in a coffin of validation it felt like to see it before my eyes.
The only difference between then and now was that there are far less people on the forums in total, or at least from what I can see. As per posts that expressly address that lots of clans have become ghost towns as people are proclaiming Destiny 2 is dead, I couldn’t help but speculate that their community might noticeably be dwindling. Sure, DLC releases will boost the community again and they’ll grind for another month, but overall, it does seem like a lot less people overall.
What everyone truly needs to know is that Bungie does not care. They’ve effectively hyped consumers, hooked them and made their money on pre-orders and season passes already. Subsequent DLC releases will only be be profit. After a long history of years of backlashes and Activision/Bungie literally taking shots directly back at the community with their own words, it should be glaringly apparent to everyone that any concern they express regarding the concerns of consumers is only insofar as to do just barely enough not to incur the wrath of a boycott and, of course, to keep their shares from plummeting in the wake of it.
Proof definitive that Activision and Bungie will absolutely never learn. They will always wallet grab their customers for as little value as possible and reply to concerns (if they feel like it) with as minimal an effort as they can get away with.
What makes me sad is the possibility that gamers may never learn either.
