There are many unspoken rules in the realm of video games. Sadly, many of these are broken just because we can break them, and that causes a lot of problems. One of these unspoken rules is cheating, and on a grand scale it is done, which makes the upcoming PC release of Destiny 2 such a worrying thing. Why should PC players alone be worried? Well, it’s because PC is much more susceptible to cheating than any other system, and because of that, we’re in store for a lot of hijinks because of cheaters.
To go a little more into this issue, the way a PC is built (standardly anyway) heavily affects how cheaters work it. PC has many ways to allow the system to work and function. What’s more, a PC can allow several programming routines to be played at the same time, while consoles can not. So a cheater can have a game running AND a powerful cheating problem running, and the PC wouldn’t care.
Cheating on PC has been rampant for years, and it’s been especially popular in the competitive market, or games that have a lot of potential via being hacked, which is why many should be ready in Destiny for what’s coming. For now, the question isn’t will there be cheating, but rather, what will the cheaters do?
The most obvious answer is that they’ll try and manipulate the game so that they have an edge in PvP, Raids, Dungeons, and maybe even the story mode. Or if they’re clever enough, maybe they’ll try and manipulate the game to give them the best items. It’s hard to say at present because the possibilities are limitless.
Regardless though, it’ll be up to Bungie to make sure that not only is Destiny 2 taken care of, but that they take strict against cheaters once they are found. The integrity of the game must be kept.
