According to the World of Warcraft Legion Reddit page, Twitch streamer Asmongold has been banned from Twitch, allegedly for “harassment.”
In a statement by the streamer, Asmongold noticed that people had stopped listening to him, assuming initially that it was down to a stream delay. The statement continues to emphasize that Twitch haven’t clarified as to what he had done wrong, and put the ban down to spam-reporting and Twitch auto-banning without evaluation.
However, should the ban be legit, it could be down to comments made regarding Hurricane Katrina, though Asmongold feels that the joke didn’t violate any terms and conditions or code of conduct. Asmongold confesses that he does “ use a lot of black humor and satire” in his streams, and maintains that it wasn’t against the terms and conditions put in place by Twitch.
In another excerpt from the statement, he also reveals that it could be down to simply being rude to people during raids:
If the problem is in regards to being rude to someone while I was doing a raid, I feel like what I say is almost always constructive and not mean-spirited. While I have a very abrasive and direct approach to dealing with people I play with, I try to stay goal-oriented in regards to criticizing people and just being mean does not help me achieve my goals.
As pointed out by Reddit user Dracoknight256, a streamer who isn’t partnered with Twitch can be autobanned from being reported too many times. With all these potential causes in mind, it is too soon to jump to conclusions as to why he was banned, and hopefully Twitch will reveal more soon. You can find the full statement here.
