As if 2016 wasn’t a strange enough year, Dragon Ball fans are about to catch some of the weirdest news of all. Yamcha, the bonafide punching bag who died against a Saibamen is making a return to the spotlight, but in the strangest way possible. A manga dedicated to the unlikely hero is on the way.
Publications are reporting that this manga will star a boy who after an accident, is reincarnated into Yamcha. Using his knowledge of the tale of Dragon Ball, he attempts to make himself into a main character after all. The poor kid has no idea what he’s up against. Yamcha has been through arguably the most arduous conflicts in the entire series, including several run-ins ending with his impalement and death through other means. The student will use all of his prior knowledge to avoid bringing Yamcha into certain familiar and deadly situations, and even proves himself by defeating Krillin reportedly.
This is an interesting premise, particularly following an episode of Dragon Ball Super in which Yamcha led the Z-Fighters in battle… at the diamond.Fans of Dragon Ball will know that Yamcha has a history playing baseball following the events of the original series and his break-up with Bulma.
While it’s not currently clear when the manga will release, fans have quite a bit to tide themselves over with, as in but seven days, Dragon Ball Super will be arriving on Toonami with the official Funimation English Dub. Until then, keep watching and keep wishing!
